I bought this album after studying the transcription for a while. I was interested in the context of the solo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise!!
This is a wonderfully varied album of excellent trumpet work in several styles. The combo is one horn with Tommy Flanahan, piano; Paul Chambers, bass; and Arthur Taylor, drums. They give Kenny all the room in the world to create some fine music.
The remastering for cd was done by the original engineer, which is worth mentioning because that engineer was Rudy Van Gelder.
Agreed, a marvelous CD, and somewhat rare to hear KD in a quartet setting. Glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the do! It could be very usefull. I start trying to play it tonight
